Mexicans and Dominicans keep winning streak
BOQUERON, Cabo Rojo, July 24 2010 – Aldo Miramontes and Juan
Virgen of Mexico, continue winning, as well as Dominican
Republic, Jamaica, Guatemala and Costa Rica in the second day of
action at the Central American and Caribbean Games, Mayagüez
2010.
Under the burning sun, Miramontes and Virgen of México earned
their second win with total domain over Kirk Shervin Rankin and
Olney Dean Thompson of Cayman Islands. “There are no small
rivals, as we don’t know them well, there’s always a risk of
losing” said Miramontes, who hopes to continue winning.
Dominicans, Yewddys Perez and German Recio prevailed over Luis
Baide and Manuel Serrano of Honduras in two sets with a strong
offensive game. “We had the chance to try some new things so we
did” expressed Yewddys, who also feel confident of winning a
medal.
Mark Lewis and Dany Wilson of Jamaica add up to the group of
winners by winning to Joseph Clercent and Dayne Williams of St.
Lucia. Lewis said “we expect a very hard match against Mexico.”
In their debut, Igor Hernandez and Jesus Villafañe of Venezuela,
found difficulties in the first set against Fabien Whitfield and
Daniel O’Brien Williams of Trinidad, but finally got the win.
“We’re not used to this ball and that made things complicated,
but we were able to win due to our experience” expressed
Venezuela’s captain, Igor Hernandez. They have been playing in
the FIVB World Tour and their mind is set on the gold medal of
these games.
